Crested Butte Winter Recreation Management 2025-19
The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forests’ Gunnison Ranger District will implement annual winter travel restrictions beginning Dec. 31, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2030, in the Crested Butte Area.
Almont Triangle winter wildlife closure
The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forests’ Gunnison Ranger District is renewing the annual winter closure for the Almont Triangle area, which will span from Dec. 12 at 12 a.m. to April 30 at 11:59 p.m., and each subsequent year through 2030 from Dec. 1 at 12 a.m.
Grand Mesa Winter Road Closure
The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forests’ Grand Valley Ranger District is temporarily closing several roads in Mesa County to ensure public safety while timber is being harvested in the area. The following roads will be closed to visitors Monday through Friday from Dec.

Attention Livestock Guests, Marvine & East Marvine Equestrian sites may have a delayed opening due to the planned site reconstruction of new corrals and site features. Construction of the new sites may run through May 22, 2026. Marvine access should not be affected by the construction. Livestock will not be allowed in Marvine during or after construction, per its designation as a campground only. This construction is weather-permitted and might get moved to a later date. Carbondale and Glenwood Springs visitor centers are temporarily closed
The Aspen-Sopris Ranger District in Carbondale will be closed for construction until 2025, and the Supervisor's Office visitor center in Glenwood Springs is closed until further notice. Please call (970) 945-2521 for any Aspen-Sopris specific inquiries.
Ruedi Marina Day Use area Dump Station is CLOSED

Crested Butte Winter Recreation Management 2025-19
The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forests’ Gunnison Ranger District will implement annual winter travel restrictions beginning Dec. 31, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2030, in the Crested Butte Area.
Almont Triangle winter wildlife closure
