About

Situated above Ruedi Reservoir in White River National Forest, Chapman Campground occupies a scenic valley along the Fryingpan River at approximately 8,200 feet elevation. The 84 standard sites and one group site are nestled among lodgepole pines, with several waterfront sites offering direct river access. The campground provides vault toilets, potable drinking water (available in Loops F, G, and H), trash and recycling collection, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. The Fryingpan River is the primary draw for anglers. The stretch from Ruedi Dam downstream to the Roaring Fork confluence holds Gold Medal Waters status, with excellent populations of rainbow, brown, cutthroat, and brook trout. Special regulations require artificial flies and lures only, with catch-and-release for all trout except brown trout (limit of 2 over 14 inches). Chapman Reservoir nearby offers additional fishing opportunities with no motorized watercraft allowed. Recreational amenities include a horseshoe pit, volleyball court, and access to a nature trail. Sites accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs with varying length limits up to 45 feet at some sites. No electrical hookups, showers, or dump station are available.
