About

Bogan Flats Campground sits in a picturesque valley along the Crystal River within White River National Forest. The campground features 35 sites plus a host site, spread among aspen groves, towering Ponderosa pines, spruce, and willow. Sites are widely spaced and offer a mix of open and shaded locations, with several positioned right at the river's edge. Paved campground roads and hardened gravel parking spurs accommodate a variety of camping setups. The Crystal River, a tributary of the Roaring Fork River, is renowned for fly fishing with plentiful rainbow, cutthroat, and brown trout. A challenging hike up nearby Mt. Sopris (12,953 feet) offers spectacular panoramic views via a 14.8-mile trail with 4,600 feet of elevation gain. In summer, wildflowers carpet the trail through aspen groves and mixed conifer forest. The quaint mountain town of Redstone lies to the north, offering shops, galleries, and restaurants, including the historic Redstone Castle built by industrialist John Osgood. The small community of Marble is just 5 miles east with a coffee bar and store. Glenwood Springs, 35 miles northwest, provides full services including the nearest dump station.
