Weller Campground sits at roughly 9,400 feet elevation in the White River National Forest, offering 11 campsites along Highway 82 between Aspen and Independence Pass. The campground serves as a convenient base for exploring the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness and accessing the nearby Weller Lake Trail, which begins just across from the campground entrance. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire grate. Vault toilets and trash disposal are provided, though potable water is not currently available. Campers should bring their own drinking water. The campground operates first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. Due to Independence Pass restrictions, vehicles over 35 feet are not permitted on Highway 82 east of Aspen. The campground enforces a 5-day stay limit with checkout at 2:00 p.m. Sites are limited to 8 people and two vehicles. Pets must be leashed at all times with a maximum 6-foot leash, as the area borders the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness where wilderness regulations apply.

Directions

From Aspen, drive approximately 9 miles east on Highway 82 toward Independence Pass. The campground entrance is on the right, just before the Weller Lake trailhead parking lot.
