About

Camp Hale East Fork Group is a reservable group campground located in the heart of the Camp Hale - Continental Divide National Monument within the White River National Forest. Situated in a wide, flat, open valley at approximately 9,200 feet elevation, the site is sparsely forested by lodgepole pines and lies near the headwaters of the Eagle River and East Fork Eagle River. The single group site can accommodate up to 200 people and features hardened parking for approximately 20 campers or RVs up to 45 feet. The gathering area includes 10 picnic tables, 8 regular fire rings plus one group-size fire ring, pedestal cooking grates, and 3 food lockers. The site has one double and one single vault toilet. Two wheelchair-accessible tent pads are available. There is no potable water, electric hookups, or dump station. The famous Colorado Trail crosses within walking distance, offering hiking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing opportunities. Fishing for various trout species is available in the Eagle River, East Fork Eagle River, Camp Hale Pond, and several beaver ponds. A bear food storage order is in effect requiring all food and refuse to be stored in hard-sided vehicles, approved bear-resistant containers, or properly suspended.
