The Meeting on the Back
In May 1903, Theodore Roosevelt ditched the press and his security detail and vanished into Yosemite for three nights with John Muir. They slept under sequoias older than the Republic and woke buried in fresh snow, and around the campfire Muir made his case: the wild country that forged America was being sold off piece by piece.
Roosevelt went home and got to work. By the time he left office he had set aside five national parks, 18 national monuments, and 150 national forests. In all, 230 million acres held in trust for every American, forever. The greatest camping trip in the history of the greatest country on earth.
That meeting is on the back of this shirt, under the full text of the Declaration of Independence, the paper that turned treason into liberty. The front carries the American flag.
