About

Elliott Creek Campground occupies a scenic position on the northwest shore of Green Mountain Reservoir in the White River National Forest. The campground features 20 sites, including 18 standard nonelectric sites and 2 tent-only sites, making it well-suited for tent camping and smaller trailer setups. Vault toilets and bear-proof trash receptacles are provided, though campers must bring their own drinking water as none is available on-site. Green Mountain Reservoir offers excellent recreational opportunities including fishing for rainbow trout, brown trout, and kokanee salmon. Motor boating, sailing, canoeing, and water skiing are popular activities, though the boat ramp is located across the reservoir at Heeney Marina rather than at the campground. All motorized watercraft must be inspected for Aquatic Nuisance Species before launching. The campground enforces a 14-day stay limit. Site access can be difficult when the road is wet. Check-in is at 2:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. From Silverthorne, take I-70 exit 205 and drive north 24 miles on Colorado Highway 9, then turn left onto Heeney Road for 2.5 miles past the dam.

Directions

From Silverthorne, take I-70 exit 205 and go north 24 miles on Colorado Highway 9. Turn left onto Heeney Road for 2.5 miles. The campground is just past the dam. From Kremmling, turn off Highway 40 onto Colorado Highway 9 South for 13 miles, then turn right on Heeney Road.
