About

Heaton Bay Campground occupies a scenic spot on the shores of 3,233-acre Dillon Reservoir in the White River National Forest. At 9,000 feet elevation, the campground provides open views of the Tenmile Range, Gore Range, and Continental Divide. Pine beetle damage led to hazard tree removal, leaving sites with little shade but expansive vistas across the reservoir. The campground has 87 sites across multiple loops, accommodating tents, trailers, and RVs up to 40 feet. Site types include standard non-electric, RV electric, tent-only, and walk-in tent sites. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets and potable water are available throughout. Bear-proof food lockers and trash receptacles are provided. Electrical hookups are available at select sites for an additional fee. Dillon Reservoir offers fishing for rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout, plus boating and sailing. Body contact with the reservoir is prohibited. The paved Summit County trail system and Old Dillon Reservoir Trail are nearby for hiking and biking. Arapahoe Basin, Keystone, Breckenridge, and Copper Mountain ski resorts are all within 10 miles.
