WHERE...Moffat, Routt, Jackson, Grand, Rio Blanco, Garfield, Eagle, Summit, Gilpin, Clear Creek, Mesa, Pitkin, Lake, Park, Delta, Gunnison, Chaffee, Montrose, Ouray, San Miguel, Dolores, and northern parts of Montezuma and Saguache Counties. Locations include, but are not limited to Craig, Steamboat Springs, Walden, Granby, Hot Sulphur Springs, Kremmling, Meeker, Rangely, Glenwood Springs, Eagle, Vail, Breckenridge, Central City, Georgetown, Grand Junction, Aspen, Leadville, Fairplay, Delta, Gunnison, Buena Vista, Salida, Montrose, Nucla, Ouray, Telluride, Dove Creek, and Saguache. Lincoln Creek Dispersed Campground provides a true backcountry car camping experience in the White River National Forest near Aspen, Colorado. The 22 dispersed sites are spread along Lincoln Creek Road, offering solitude and access to the surrounding wilderness. This is primitive camping with no developed facilities whatsoever. The campground is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a maximum 5-day stay limit. A high-clearance vehicle is required and 4x4 capability is recommended to reach all sites, as the road can be rough and rocky. The area sits at high elevation and is typically inaccessible during winter and early spring due to snow. Campers should be aware that high concentrations of heavy metals have been detected in Lincoln Creek. Bring all water, pack out all trash, and come prepared for completely self-sufficient camping.

Directions

From Aspen, travel southeast on Highway 82 for 11 miles toward Independence Pass. Turn right onto Lincoln Creek Road and travel approximately 7 miles south. High clearance required, 4x4 recommended.
