This Order describes acts that are prohibited upon lands, roads and trails within the National Forest System administered by the Forest Service Pacific Northwest Region in regards to alcoholic beverages.

Aquatic Invasive Species

This Order prohibits 1) possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic invasive animal species AND 2) prohibits possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic or riparian invasive plant species - on National Forest System lands in the Pacific Northwest Region as specified in the Order.

Restrictions on Use of Forage and Mulch Products

This Order prohibits unloading, storing, or using any straw, hay, grain, seed, or other forage or mulch products that are not state-certified weed free on the National Forest System lands, roads or trails in any Closure Area as specific in the Order.

Mountain Loop Highway Closed Due to Landslide

A landslide is blocking the Mountain Loop Highway at milepost 37.5, about 15.5 miles south of Darrington. There is no access to Forest Service Road 49 and N. Fork Sauk and Sloan Creek trails.

Mountain Loop Highway and Mt. Pilchuck Rd Closed for Winter!

A 14-mile section of the Mountain Loop Highway is closed to vehicles due to snow and road conditions between the Deer Creek and Bedal gates.

Franklin Falls Sno-Park Closed this Winter

The Franklin Falls Sno-Park will not operate this winter, and the Denny Creek Road (Forest Service Road 58) will be closed to motorized traffic. The Denny Creek Road and parking lot at Franklin Falls will not be plowed.

Mountain Loop Highway closed for the winter season from Deer Creek to Bedal Campground

The Mountain Loop Highway on Darrington Ranger District is now closed to motor vehicles for the winter season from Deer Creek to Bedal Campground. Timing of re-opening in the spring depends on weather but typically occurs in mid-May.

Tupso Pass Road (FSR 41) Work

Tupso Pass Road (FSR 41) work has been completed. The road is open and passable to the Canyon Creek Bridge at milepost 8.5.

Fairfax Bridge Permanently Closed

The Fairfax Bridge on State Highway 165 (milepost 11.5) across the Carbon River has been permanently closed by Washington Department of Transportation (DOT) due to safety concerns.

FSR 23 and FSR 27 Closure Order

This alert is to announce the closures of Forest System Road #23 (White Chuck Road) from milepost 3.7 to its terminus with Forest System Road #27 (Rat Trap Pass Road) and Forest System Road #27 (Rat Trap Pass Road) from milepost 4 to its terminus with Forest System Road #23 (White Chuck Road).&nb

Middle Fork Camping Closure

A dispersed camping closure along part of Forest Road 56 and Forest Road 5640 went into effect June 1st. Attached is the closure order and map. The decision to close dispersed camping stems from the 2017 Wild and Scenic River designation of the Middle Fork River.

Camping Restrictions

Camping for a total of 28 days, per calendar year, on National Forest System lands outside of a developed campground is prohibited. [36 CFR § 261.58(a)]

Entire Forest Under Food Storage Order

The Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest has a food storage order in effect across the entire Forest. This order requires visitors to the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest (MBSNF) to store food items in a “bear resistant manner” and to properly dispose of wildlife attractants.

Forest Roads Closed Due to Rain Event

The past few days has shown heavy rainfall as an atmospheric river moved into the Northern Cascade Region bringing 16+ inches of rain to the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

Forest Service Road 6808 Emergency Closure

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest issued an emergency closure of Forest Service Road 6808 from mile marker 3.9 to mile marker 4.2 due to a sinkhole that has developed in the travel way. Closure timeframe is currently unknown, and travel will resume when roads are repaired.

Rd 2810-041 Yellowjacket Bridge Road Closure

Rd 2810-041 will close Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, and will remain closed until mid-November for redriving piles at Yellowjacket.

Winter Road Closures

Due to large amounts of snowfall the gates along the fallowing roads will be closed for the winter season. This routine seasonal gate closure is important for public safety as these roads are not maintained and become hazardous in the winter.

Washout on Forest Road 93

Forest Road 93 is closed at milepost 6.95 due to a severe washout. Road signs are posted at the beginning of each side of FR 93 to alert drivers of the inability to drive the entire length of road.

Upper State Route 504 closed at milepost 45.2 due to large slide

Closure: Upper State Route 504/Spirit Lake Memorial Highway is closed between mileposts (MP) 45.2 and 51 until further notice with a possible re-opening date sometime in 2026. Johnston Ridge Observatory and Loowit Viewpoint is inaccessible by vehicle

Adams Fork Bridge Closed (FR 5601)

The Adams Fork Bridge on FR 5601 at MP 2.0 on the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District is CLOSED.

Forest Road 2801 Closure

Forest Road 2801 is closed on both ends of the road due to a washout at milepost 0.25 and a large slide at milepost 7.

Timed Entry Reservations required on weekends/holidays for the Sunrise Corridor ONLY in 2025.

A timed entry reservation is required only for the Sunrise Corridor in the northeast corner of the park from 7 am to 5 pm on weekends & holidays from Sept 1 through end of the season (early- to mid-October).

SR 123 is closed to all through traffic from Stevens Canyon Rd to Cayuse Pass in September 2025

Due to construction, SR 123 will be closed Sept 2 - 30 to all vehicles, pedestrians, & bicyclists from Stevens Canyon Road to Cayuse Pass / SR 410. Stevens Canyon Entrance remains open. Expect detours of 3-4 hours.

Trail Closures: Shriner Peak Trail and Naches Peak Trail

Access is prohibited to Naches Peak Trail as well as trailheads on SR 123 between Cayuse Pass and Stevens Canyon Road to protect public health and safety due to the vicinity of the Wildcat Fire burning outside of the park to the east.

Westside Road temporarily closed due to debris flow activity.

Westside Road is temporarily closed until further notice due to recent thunderstorm events that caused loose sediment and large rocks from Dry Creek to be deposited on the road.

SR 165 Carbon River/Fairfax Bridge is closed: no access to Carbon River or Mowich Lake.

There is NO public access to Carbon River & Mowich Lake from SR 165. The bridge is closed to pedestrians, bicycles and vehicles and there is no alternate route.

Expect delays & limited parking due to construction between Nisqually and Stevens Canyon Entrances.

Pavement preservation work will impact all roads, pullouts, and parking areas from Nisqually Entrance to Stevens Canyon Entrance, including Longmire and Paradise. Expect limited parking availability and up to 30-min delays from 7 am - 7 pm, Mon - Fri.

Fire ban in effect June 10 until further notice.

All campfires and the ignition of wood, briquettes, or any fuel in fire pits, fire pans, and barbeque grills is prohibited. This ban is in place to reduce the risk of human-caused wildland fire.

Expect long lines at entrances on weekends.

Lengthy delays are likely at the southwest park entrance on SR706 on weekends. Check Google Maps for backup (represented by the orange/red line) at link below. Please do not block driveways or roads while in line outside the park.

Ohanapecosh Campground area closed for construction in 2025.

The entire Ohanapecosh Campground area is CLOSED for the duration of the construction project, including all campsites, visitor center, restrooms, picnic area, & Ohanapecosh river access.

Sunrise Service Road Closure

Effective July 14, 2025 until further notice, the eastern portion of the Sunrise Service Road (Sunrise area), access points at Wonderland Trail, Sunrise Parking Lot and Sunrise Picnic Area. Sunrise Road and Sunrise parking area both remain open.

Beginning October 1, 2025, this facility will not be available for reservation over the winter months due to a non-functioning wood stove and no ability to heat the cabin.
