About

Morrison Creek Campground is a free primitive camping area located in the Mt. Adams area of Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The site was burned over in the Cascade Creek Fire of 2012 and now offers several rustic campsites, some positioned along Morrison Creek. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees required. The campground serves primarily as a staging area for wilderness access, functioning as a trailhead to the Shorthorn Trail #16 which enters Mount Adams Wilderness. From here, hikers are within 3 miles of the popular South Climb #183 Trail and route up Mt. Adams. A wilderness permit is required to enter the wilderness; permits are free and self-issued at the trailhead. Motorized and mechanized uses are not allowed in wilderness areas. Facilities are minimal with only a vault toilet available. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. The access road is rough and not recommended for trailers or motor homes. Quiet hours are observed from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
