The Washington State Department of Ecology, Benton Clean Air Agency, and the Yakima Regional Clean Air Agency have issued an Air Quality Alert until further notice. For the Smoke Air Quality Alert, wildfires burning in the region combined with forecasted conditions may cause air quality to reach unhealthy levels. Pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes, runny nose, aggravate heart and lung diseases, and aggravate other serious health problems. Limit outdoor activities and keep children indoors if it is smoky. Please follow medical advice if you have a heart or lung condition. Sawmill Flat Campground is nestled along the Naches River in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, providing easy access to the Northern Cascade Range. At 2,500 feet elevation, the campground features 24 sites including standard vehicle sites, tent-only sites, and walk-to sites. A historic Civilian Conservation Corps shelter serves as a notable landmark and gathering spot. The Naches River adjacent to camp has served as a natural corridor between the east and west sides of the Cascades for centuries, used by Native Americans and settlers traveling through Naches Pass. Recreational opportunities include fishing in the river, hiking nearby trails like the Frost Mountain Lookout Trail, and whitewater paddling on the American River. Boulder Cave National Recreation Trail is a popular nearby attraction. The campground is well-suited for tent camping and smaller trailers up to 24 feet. Amenities include vault toilets, drinking water available from hand pumps, fire rings, and picnic tables at each site. No electrical hookups or showers are available. An ADA-accessible site is offered.

Directions

From Naches, travel west on Highway 12 for 4.3 miles to Highway 410, then continue west on Highway 410 for 22.7 miles. At milepost 93.2, turn right into Sawmill Flat Campground.
