About

Cougar Flat Campground is nestled in a mountain forest northwest of Naches, Washington, adjacent to the William O. Douglas Wilderness. At 3,100 feet elevation, the campground provides a secluded base camp for exploring the surrounding backcountry. The 12 sites include 8 standard sites suitable for small trailers up to 20 feet and 4 walk-in tent-only sites, all shaded and equipped with picnic tables and fire rings with grills. Nearby Bumping Lake offers boating, swimming, and fishing opportunities. The American Ridge Trail provides over 26 miles of hiking through forests, mountain meadows, and high elevation lakes, connecting the Bumping River to the Pacific Crest Trail. The Goose Prairie Trail is another popular option. While horses are not permitted in the campground itself, equestrian staging is available in the area. The campground operates seasonally, typically mid-May through early fall. Campers should bring adequate supplies as there is no trash service and pack-it-in, pack-it-out practices are required. Drinking water is available from a hand pump but RV hoses should not be attached to the water system.
