Hydrologic Outlook issued April 10 at 4:30PM PDT by NWS Pendleton OR

April 10th, 4:30 PM — 8:00 PM

ESFPDT Moderate rain this weekend in the Washington Cascades and northern Blue Mountains combined with snowmelt from above normal temperatures will lead to river rises this weekend and early next week. Most rivers are currently running at low levels and the increased streamflows will not be a problem. However, the Naches River at Cliffdell and at Naches are expected to rise above Action Stage early Saturday through Monday. The Grande Ronde River at Troy is expected to rise but stay barely below Action Stage Monday through Tuesday morning. Only localized minor flooding is expected. Please monitor the latest river forecasts from the National Weather Service for additional information.

About

Halfway Flat Campground is located about 30 miles west of Naches, Washington, on the east side of the Cascades mountain range in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The campground features eight sites nestled in an old-growth forest of Douglas fir, western hemlock, and cedar, with grassy areas, ferns, and mosses covering the forest floor. The setting provides a quiet, forested atmosphere with the Naches River nearby. The campground offers ready access to the Naches River, where anglers can fish for rainbow and brown trout in its cold, clear waters. Hiking and horseback riding trails extend into the adjacent William O. Douglas and Norse Peak Wilderness areas, and the Little Naches drainage draws off-road vehicle and snowmobile enthusiasts. The campground is conveniently located 30 minutes below the summit of Chinook Pass and Mount Rainier National Park, making it an ideal base for exploring the scenic Chinook Pass Highway. Nearby attractions include the Pacific Crest Trail and Boulder Cave Trail, one of the most popular destinations in the Naches District. Within 10 miles, visitors can access lakes, boat ramps, hunting areas, historic sites, and trails for horseback riding, mountain biking, and off-highway vehicles. The area is home to abundant wildlife, including deer, elk, and native fish, with endangered species like Northern Spotted Owls, gray wolves, and grizzly bears inhabiting nearby ecosystems.
