South Fork Tieton Dispersed Camping

Open

Open for dispersed camping. Vault toilets and sani-cans are available during summer months only. No potable water is available; pack out all trash. Fire restrictions may be implemented during high fire danger periods.

About

South Fork Tieton Dispersed Camping stretches along the South Fork Tieton River near Rimrock Lake in Washington's Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The area encompasses four dispersed camping zones: Jay Hawk, Lower Bake Oven, Upper Bake Oven, and Minnie Meadows, spanning from the first turnout near the pavement to approximately 8 miles up Forest Service Road 1000. This is primitive dispersed camping managed by the Naches Ranger District. Both RV and tent camping are permitted, though the dispersed nature means sites lack the amenities of developed campgrounds. Vault toilets and portable sani-cans are provided during summer months, but there is no potable water or trash service. Campers must pack out all garbage following Leave No Trace principles. The area sits at approximately 3,300 feet elevation along the forested river corridor. Access is via Highway 12 from Naches to Forest Service Road 1200, then onto Forest Service Road 1000. Sites are first-come, first-served with no reservations available.

Directions

From Naches, take Highway 12 west to Forest Service Road 1200. Turn onto FS Road 1200 and continue to Forest Service Road 1000. Dispersed camping sites begin at the first turnout within 20 yards of pavement and extend approximately 8 miles up Road 1000 to Minnie Meadows.
