Lower Bumping Campground

About

Lower Bumping Campground is situated on the south shore of Bumping Lake in the Cascade Mountains of Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, approximately 45 miles northwest of Naches, Washington. This section of Bumping Lake Campground offers lakeside camping in a stunning setting surrounded by rugged peaks, old-growth conifer forests, and natural beauty. Bumping Lake was created naturally by glaciers and is fed by snowmelt, making it a pristine destination for outdoor recreation. The campground accommodates both tent and RV camping, with each site equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided, though no hookups are available. A boat launch is conveniently located at the lower campground, providing direct access to the lake for boating, water skiing, fishing, and swimming. The area is popular for hiking, with the American Ridge Trail meandering through more than 26 miles of towering forests and mountain meadows to connect with the Pacific Crest Trail. The surrounding wilderness supports diverse wildlife including deer, porcupine, native fish, and migratory birds. In winter months when road conditions allow, the area offers opportunities for skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. The campground is operated by Rocky Mountain Recreation and offers reservable sites through Recreation.gov during the operating season.
