Cottonwood Campground

Closed — Closed for the season. The campground operates annually from mid-May through early October.

Hydrologic Outlook issued April 10 at 4:30PM PDT by NWS Pendleton OR

4:30 PM — April 11th, 8:00 PM

ESFPDT Moderate rain this weekend in the Washington Cascades and northern Blue Mountains combined with snowmelt from above normal temperatures will lead to river rises this weekend and early next week. Most rivers are currently running at low levels and the increased streamflows will not be a problem. However, the Naches River at Cliffdell and at Naches are expected to rise above Action Stage early Saturday through Monday. The Grande Ronde River at Troy is expected to rise but stay barely below Action Stage Monday through Tuesday morning. Only localized minor flooding is expected. Please monitor the latest river forecasts from the National Weather Service for additional information.

About

Cottonwood Campground is located along the Naches River in the Northern Cascade Range of Washington, offering 16 campsites within the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The campground features both standard and tent-only sites situated among old-growth forests with craggy peaks and mountain meadows as a backdrop. The Naches River, accessible directly from the campground, provides opportunities for fishing and swimming in its pristine waters. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the area's extensive trail system. The nearby American Ridge Trail offers 26 miles of hiking, backpacking, and horseback riding routes that connect to the Pacific Crest Trail. Boulder Cave National Recreation Trail, one of the most popular destinations in the Naches District, is easily accessible and features interpretive signage explaining the area's geology and natural history. During fall, the area becomes a hub for whitewater rafting on the American and Tieton Rivers. Facilities include vault toilets, drinking water from a hand pump, picnic tables, and fire pits at each site. The campground accommodates RVs and trailers up to 22 feet. Sites are available through Recreation.gov reservation system during the operating season. No hookups are provided. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.
