Indian Creek Recreation Area is a dispersed camping area situated along Highway 12 at milepost 160 in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The campground is positioned between Rimrock Lake and Clear Lake on the White Pass Highway, approximately 37 miles west of Yakima. This recreation area provides a simple, affordable camping option for both RV and tent campers seeking access to the eastern Cascade Mountains. The area offers basic amenities including vault toilets, but no potable water is available on-site. Campers should come prepared with their own water supply. The dispersed camping setup allows for flexibility in site selection, and the location provides convenient access to nearby Clear Lake Campgrounds and other recreational opportunities along the Highway 12 corridor. At an elevation of 2,950 feet, the area experiences light use and offers a more primitive camping experience. Sites are available first-come, first-served at $8 per night, payable by cash or check. Some sites may offer payment via QR code scanning through the Recreation.gov mobile app. The campground operates seasonally, typically closing in late September or early October for the winter season due to snow and weather conditions.

Directions

From Yakima, travel west on Highway 12 (White Pass Highway) to milepost 160, approximately 37 miles from Yakima. From Packwood, travel east on Highway 12. The recreation area is located between Rimrock Lake and Clear Lake, about 20 miles east of White Pass.
