Prescribed Fires Begin on the Cleveland

The Cleveland National Forest is planning prescribed fire operations this fall & winter. Work will continue through the spring as weather conditions allow.

Water Unavailable at Penny Pines Trailhead Spigot

Attention Hikers: There is currently NO WATER available at the Penny Pines Trailhead. The water spigot pump is broken and there is no estimated time of repair at this time. Be prepared to bring or seek out alternative water sources.

Airport Fire Burned Area Closure

The Cleveland NF has closed the Airport Fire burned area perimeter on the Trabuco Ranger District of the Cleveland National Forest. This closure prohibits going into or being upon any National Forest System lands, roads, and trails within the boundaries of the closure.

Camping Stay Limits

This order prohibits extended camping in developed campgrounds, undeveloped areas, and maximum annual camping durations.

Cedar Creek Falls Forest Orders

Forest Order No. 02-23-02 closes the cliffs surrounding the falls, 02-23-03 requires visitors to have a permit to access the falls, 02-23-04 prohibits alcohol along the entirety of the trail system.

Isolated gusts to 65 mph possible below the passes. * WHERE...San Bernardino County Mountains, San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys-The Inland Empire, San Gorgonio Pass near Banning, and Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills. * WHEN...Until 1 PM PST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strongest winds will occur through and below the Cajon Pass and adjacent foothills, below the San Gorgonio Pass, and through the canyons of the Santa Ana Mountains.

Lighthouse Area Restrooms Closed

All restrooms are closed near the Old Point Loma Lighthouse due to utility issues. Restrooms by the visitor center are open.

Masks Required For All Indoor Park Buildings

Consistent with CDC guidance regarding areas of substantial or high transmission, visitors to Cabrillo National Monument, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask inside all park buildings.

Bayside Trail Closure, November 7-22

The Bayside Trail will be closed to the public due to construction from Monday, November 7, through Tuesday, November 22. Thank you for your understanding.

Tidepool Parking Lot 1 May Be Closed Intermittently on Friday June 30th

Due to construction, the Lot 1 parking lot at the Tidepools will be closed intermittently throughout the day on Friday June 30. Tidepool parking lots 2 and 3 will remain open.

Lighthouse Closed in the morning on August 14.

The lighthouse will be closed for the morning of Monday August 14 for maintenance.

Old Point Loma Lighthouse Closed for Rehabilitation Work Jan 16th - 23rd

The Old Point Loma Lighthouse will be closed January 16th - 23rd for rehabilitation work. The rest of the park will remain open to the public. The lighthouse will reopen for visitors on January 24th.

Visitor Center Will be Closing at 3pm on Saturday May 18th

The Visitor Center and Park Store will be closing early at 3pm on Saturday May 18th for an event.

Cabrillo will be closed on Christmas December 25

Cabrillo National Monument will be closed on Christmas Day, Wednesday December 25. We will reopen on Thursday, December 26 at 9am.

Cabrillo Will Be Open From 1pm-5pm on Memorial Day, May 26, 2025

Due to ceremonies at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on Memorial Day, May 26, 2025, the road to Cabrillo National Monument will be closed until 1pm. Cabrillo will be open from 1pm-5pm on Memorial Day.
