Water Unavailable at Penny Pines Trailhead Spigot

Attention Hikers: There is currently NO WATER available at the Penny Pines Trailhead. The water spigot pump is broken and there is no estimated time of repair at this time. Be prepared to bring or seek out alternative water sources.

Airport Fire Burned Area Closure

The Cleveland NF has closed the Airport Fire burned area perimeter on the Trabuco Ranger District of the Cleveland National Forest. This closure prohibits going into or being upon any National Forest System lands, roads, and trails within the boundaries of the closure.

Camping Stay Limits

This order prohibits extended camping in developed campgrounds, undeveloped areas, and maximum annual camping durations.

Cedar Creek Falls Forest Orders

Forest Order No. 02-23-02 closes the cliffs surrounding the falls, 02-23-03 requires visitors to have a permit to access the falls, 02-23-04 prohibits alcohol along the entirety of the trail system.

Located on the Cleveland National Forest near Warner Springs, Oak Grove Campground is nestled in a picturesque valley surrounded by large oak groves and chaparral vegetation including ribbonwood and chamise. The campground features 64 sites including 11 double sites spread across two loops: Oak Loop with vault toilets and Ribbonwood Loop with flush toilets. Each site includes a picnic table and grill, offering open yet secluded camping spots. The campground provides excellent access to outdoor recreation. Oak Grove Trail, the oldest established trail on the Palomar Ranger District, is just across Highway 79 behind the Ranger Station. This steep 1.5-mile trail rewards hikers with sweeping views of the San Jacinto and San Gorgonio Mountains and Oak Grove Valley, and connects to Oak Grove Truck Trail for extended adventures to High Point Lookout. The nearby Agua Tibia Wilderness offers additional hiking opportunities. The area is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and birders, with opportunities to spot mountain lions, bobcats, mule deer, coyotes, gray foxes, and numerous other species. The clear night skies provide excellent stargazing conditions. Nearby attractions include Palomar Observatory and Temecula Wine Country. Summer temperatures can be hot, and visitors should check current fire restrictions before arrival.

Directions

From Interstate 15 take Highway 79 east. The campground is on the north side of the highway, across from the fire station. From Temecula, take State Highway 79 south 24.1 miles and turn left at campground sign.
