Grunion Run Group Campsite at San Elijo State Beach is a popular oceanfront group camping destination perched on the bluffs between Encinitas and Solana Beach, about 40 miles north of San Diego. The site accommodates up to 40 people with 10 vehicles included, though only 2 vehicles may drive into the fenced camping area. The pull-through site features one 50-amp RV hookup with water and sewage connections, 6 picnic tables, 1 fire pit, and 1 BBQ grill. The campground offers direct access to a narrow, bluff-backed beach popular with swimmers, surfers, snorkelers, and divers who explore the nearby reef. Modern restrooms with showers and drinking water are available on-site. Located along Coast Highway 101, the campground sits within walking distance of Cardiff-by-the-Sea's restaurants and surf shops. The site is exposed with no shade and experiences train noise from the adjacent rail line. An extra-long sewage hose is required to reach the dump station within the site.

Directions

Exit Interstate 5 at Encinitas Boulevard and head west. Turn left on South Coast Highway. Follow Coast Highway south about 2 miles. The group campsite is accessed through the gate heading north in the campground.
