About

San Onofre Bluffs Campground occupies a stunning stretch of Southern California coastline three miles south of San Clemente along the old Pacific Coast Highway. The 175-site campground sits atop sandstone bluffs with panoramic ocean views, and six rugged trails provide access to 3.5 miles of undeveloped beach below. Established in 1971 under Governor Ronald Reagan, this remains one of the most scenic coastal camping destinations in Orange County. The campground accommodates tents, RVs, and trailers up to 36 feet. Every site comes equipped with a fire pit and picnic table. Facilities include chemical toilets, cold outdoor showers, and an RV dump station, though no hookups are available. Fifteen sites are designated as ADA accessible, including 13 tent sites and 2 RV/trailer sites, with generally accessible parking and restrooms throughout. Dogs are welcome on leash throughout the campground but are prohibited on the beach and inside buildings. The entrance gate locks nightly from 10 PM to 6 AM during camping season. A beach wheelchair is available during peak season (June 1 through September 15) by reservation through the lifeguard tower.
