* WHAT...South swell from 190 degrees with a period of 18 to 20 seconds will generate surf of 4 to 7 feet with sets up to 9 feet along south-facing beaches. High rip current risk. * WHERE...San Diego County Coastal Areas and Orange County Coastal Areas. * WHEN...Through Thursday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Hazardous swimming conditions with high rip current and longshore current risk. If you become caught in a rip current, yell for help. Remain calm and do not exhaust yourself and stay afloat while waiting for help. If you have to swim out of a rip current, SWIM PARALLEL TO SHORE and back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to swim directly against a rip current as you will tire quickly. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Highest surf will be at south-facing beaches and peak through today. Swell and surf will slowly subside beginning Thursday with a shorter period, but will remain elevated into Friday.

Silver Strand State Beach Campground occupies a unique stretch of Southern California coastline on the Silver Strand, a narrow isthmus separating San Diego Bay from the Pacific Ocean. The campground is exclusively for self-contained RVs and trailers equipped with running water systems and flushable toilets with holding tanks, as mandated by Coastal Commission regulations. No tent camping is permitted. The facility offers full hookup sites with electric, water, and sewer connections. Amenities include restrooms, cold outdoor rinsing showers on both the ocean and bay sides, an RV dump station, and accessible picnic areas with ramadas and barbecue pits. The Crown Cove Trail provides an accessible 0.8-mile loop with bay views. Beach wheelchairs and beach mats are available at the entry station. Gates close seasonally between 7pm and 9pm and reopen at 7am, with no vehicle access during locked hours. Check-in is at 2pm with checkout by noon. Maximum stay is 7 consecutive nights during peak season (May 15 through September 15) and 14 consecutive nights during off-peak, with a 30-day annual limit.

Directions

Located at 5000 Highway 75, Coronado, CA 92118. From San Diego, take the Coronado Bay Bridge to Highway 75 South. The campground is approximately 4 miles south of Coronado on the Silver Strand between San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean.
