Green Valley Horse Camp

Green Valley Horse Camp is a dedicated equestrian camping area within the larger Green Valley Campground at Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, located about 40 miles east of San Diego in the Peninsular Mountain Range. The 15 family horse camp sites can each accommodate up to 8 people and 2 horses, with pipe corrals provided at each site. At 4,000 feet elevation, campers enjoy cooler temperatures and a creek running through the campground area. The facility provides flush toilets and pay showers in a combination restroom/shower building. Potable water faucets are distributed throughout the campground, and a dump station serves RV users. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. Firewood and ice are available for purchase. Two sites (#12 and #13) are ADA accessible, and a horse mounting platform is available. Trail access includes Monument Trail and Arroyo Seco Fire Road, connecting to over 100 miles of riding trails within the park. Dogs are permitted in the campground on leash but are not allowed on trails. The camp closes seasonally from December 1 through March 31 due to inclement weather affecting trail conditions.

Directions

From San Diego, take I-8 east to Highway 79 north. The park entrance is approximately 5 miles north of Descanso. Green Valley Campground is located within the park at 4,000 feet elevation.
