About
Borrego Palm Canyon Campground is the primary developed campground in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California's largest state park encompassing over 600,000 acres of Colorado Desert wilderness. The campground is located at the western edge of Borrego Springs at the entrance to Borrego Palm Canyon, a dramatic gorge sheltering one of the few remaining native California fan palm groves. The campground features 52 RV sites with full hookups (water, electric, and sewer), 65 tent sites, 5 group camps, and hike/bike sites. Historic CCC-era stonework camp stoves and tables can be found in the upper campground area. Five restroom buildings with flush toilets and showers are dispersed throughout. A dump station is available for RV campers. The 3-mile roundtrip Borrego Palm Canyon Trail departs from the campground and climbs gradually into the canyon past desert vegetation and bighorn sheep habitat to reach the palm oasis. Spring wildflower blooms attract visitors from February through April, while cooler winter months offer ideal desert hiking conditions.
