Paso Picacho Campground

Paso Picacho Campground occupies a scenic mountain setting at 5,000 feet elevation within Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, one of the largest state parks in San Diego County. The 85 campsites are spread through oak and pine forest, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Restroom buildings with flush toilets and pay showers serve the campground, with water faucets located every few sites. A dump station is available for RV waste disposal, though no hookups are provided. The campground serves as a basecamp for some of the region's best hiking. The 2-mile trail to Stonewall Peak (5,700 feet) offers panoramic views and departs directly from camp. The more challenging 3.5-mile route to Cuyamaca Peak (6,512 feet), the second-highest point in San Diego County, also begins nearby. Over 100 miles of multi-use trails accommodate hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians throughout the park. Five campsites (#9, #21, #53, #60, #66) are designated accessible with nearby accessible restroom and shower facilities. Dogs are permitted in the campground but must remain on leash and cannot be left unattended. Firewood and ice are available for purchase. The campground accepts reservations through ReserveCalifornia from April 1 through November 30, operating first-come, first-served during the winter season.

Located 5 miles north of Green Valley on Highway 79. The park is approximately 50 miles east of San Diego via Interstate 8 to Highway 79.
