Los Vaqueros Group Horse Camp is a specialized equestrian camping facility nestled within Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, approximately 2 miles east of Highway 79 on Los Caballos Road. Designed exclusively for horse camping groups, the campground can accommodate up to 80 people, 45 horses, and 50 vehicles including trucks and trailers. The facility features individual pipe corrals for horses with one horse per corral, and campers are responsible for cleaning their corrals with manure receptacles provided on-site. The campground offers well-maintained amenities including picnic tables, BBQ grills, water faucets, a large communal fire ring, and a dedicated restroom building with showers. All vehicles are limited to 50 feet in length, and check-in is strictly enforced at 2:00 p.m. with checkout at noon. Dogs are permitted in the campground on leash but are not allowed on trails. The location provides exceptional access to over 100 miles of multi-use trails winding through the park's diverse ecosystems of oak woodland forests, conifer stands, meadows, and seasonal streams. The varied terrain offers riders scenic vistas including ocean and desert views from higher elevations. Horses must remain on designated trails, with Cuyamaca Peak Fire Road and all paved roads closed to equestrian use.
