San Onofre SB Bluffs Group Campground is located within the San Onofre Bluffs camping area at one of California's most popular state beaches. Established in 1971, the park draws nearly 2.5 million visitors annually and is renowned for its surfing, swimming, and natural beauty. The group campground sits along Old Pacific Coast Highway at 5200 S. Pacific Coast Hwy, San Clemente, perched on beautiful sandstone bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The group site can accommodate up to 50 people and 12 vehicles with a maximum vehicle length of 18 feet. Like other Bluffs sites, it includes a fire pit and picnic table. The area provides cold outdoor showers and flush toilets but no RV hookups. Six rugged dirt access trails cut into the bluff provide direct access to the sandy beach below, which is popular with swimmers and surfers. The campground offers dramatic coastal views and proximity to famous surf breaks including Trestles, Church, and Trails. The Bluffs camping area operates seasonally from mid-May through September. San Onofre State Beach encompasses three miles of coastline and serves as a historical and sacred site, once home to the ancient Acjachemen village of Panhe over 8,000 years ago. Whales, dolphins, and sea lions can often be spotted offshore. The park is accessible via I-5 at Basilone Road, three miles south of San Clemente, adjacent to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.
