Clusters of slow moving thunderstorms will bring a risk of flash flooding to portions of Maine and New Hampshire later today into tonight. Storm development will support rainfall rates up to 3 inches an hour. These slow moving and repeating rounds of heavy rain could lead to localized and possibly considerable flash flooding. For Carroll County New Hampshire, recent flooding has elevated streams and saturated the ground, making this area particularly vulnerable to any rapid runoff. * WHAT...Flash Flooding caused by slow moving thunderstorms and repeating rounds of heavy rainfall. * WHERE...Portions of Maine, including the following areas, Central Somerset, Interior Cumberland Highlands, Northern Franklin, Northern Oxford, Southern Franklin, Southern Oxford and Southern Somerset and northern New Hampshire, including the following areas, Northern Carroll and Southern Carroll. * WHEN...From 2 PM EDT this afternoon through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in rapid rises in area rivers and streams, and flooding of other low-lying and flood-prone locations. In recently wet areas like Carroll County New Hampshire, brooks and streams are already running high and could flood quickly with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Storms will be slow-moving and capable of producing torrential rainfall. Localized rainfall totals in excess of 3 inches are possible, which may occur in as little as an hour or two. Recent wet conditions keeping streams running high, and soils wet. These areas in particular will be more vulnerable to flash flooding. However rainfall amounts exceeding 3 inches in a few hours could result in flooding for most areas regardless of antecedent conditions.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall and already elevated streams is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northern New Hampshire, including the following county, Carroll focused on areas recently impacted by flooding from Tamworth to Madison. * WHEN...Until 930 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Recent flooding elevated area streams and reduced runoff storage in the area from Tamworth, to Conway, south to Eaton and Madison. As a result, even modest rainfall seen this morning with amounts of a half inch can result in small stream rises necessary to cause minor flooding. Overall impacts are expected to be minor. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 703 AM EDT, Local law enforcement reported stream rises due to ongoing heavy showers. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Conway, Ossipee, Tamworth, Madison, Freedom, Albany and Eaton.

* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of central and northern New Hampshire, including the following counties, in central New Hampshire, Belknap, Merrimack and Sullivan. In northern New Hampshire, Grafton. * WHEN...Until 900 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 652 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain between Lebanon and Danbury. This will cause rises in small streams, and rapid runoff in the hills which can cause minor flooding in roads. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Claremont, Lebanon, Franklin, New London, Plymouth, Meredith, Grafton, Hanover, Enfield and Canaan.
