About

Passaconaway Campground sits in a heavily wooded setting along the Kancamagus Highway in the White Mountain National Forest. The 33-site campground provides a quiet base for exploring the surrounding peaks and valleys, with the Swift River flowing a short distance away offering brook trout fishing opportunities. The campground operates strictly first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. Sites include a picnic table and fire ring with grilling grate. Potable water is available from a hand pump, and vault toilets serve the facility. Firewood is sold on-site; gathering is limited to dead and down wood only. Across the highway lies the trailhead for multiple popular routes: the UNH Trail to the 2,520-foot summit of Mt. Hedgehog, the Downes Brook Trail, and the Mt. Potash Trail. Dogs must remain leashed within the campground. Maximum stay is 14 consecutive nights.

Directions

From Conway, take NH Route 112 (Kancamagus Highway) west for 14 miles. The campground is on the south side of the highway.
