About
Covered Bridge Campground is nestled in an old hardwood forest near the Swift River within White Mountain National Forest. Located along the Kancamagus Highway, one of New England's premier fall foliage drives, the campground provides an excellent base for exploring the region's nearly 800,000 acres of pristine forest and mountain terrain. The campground offers 49 sites across two loops, suitable for tents and smaller RVs. Sites include fire rings and picnic tables, with vault toilets and hand-pump potable water available. There is a notable 7'9" height restriction through the historic covered bridge at the campground entrance; taller vehicles must access the campground via Passaconaway Road from West Side Road in Conway. The area supports abundant wildlife including moose, white-tailed deer, black bear, and nearly 200 bird species. The Swift River offers excellent brook trout fishing and cool wading during summer months. Nearby Conway and North Conway provide restaurants, shopping, and other amenities.
Directions
From Conway, New Hampshire: Take Kancamagus Highway (State Route 112) 6 miles west, then turn on Dugway Road and proceed into the campground. Vehicles 7'9" or taller cannot pass through the covered bridge and must use an alternate route: At the traffic light in Conway Village, go north on Washington Street which becomes West Side Road. Proceed approximately 1 mile to Passaconaway Road, turn west and follow for 5 miles to the campground.
