About

Fourth Iron Tent Site sits at the scenic confluence of the Sawyer and Saco Rivers in New Hampshire's White Mountain National Forest. This walk-in tent site requires carrying gear roughly a quarter-mile from the Route 302 parking area, a trade-off that helps preserve the peaceful atmosphere despite the roadside location. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. During the maintained season from spring through early fall, the fee is $15 per night. Interagency Senior and Access passes receive a 50% discount. Off-season camping is free but without services. Facilities are primitive with vault toilets available but no potable water. Campers should bring all drinking water and be prepared for self-sufficient backcountry-style camping. The riverside setting along the Saco River provides excellent access to swimming holes and fishing opportunities. The location four miles west of Bartlett makes it a convenient base for exploring the surrounding White Mountain trails and scenic drives along the Kancamagus Highway corridor.

Directions

From Bartlett, NH, head west on Route 302 for 4 miles. The campground parking area is on the south side of the highway.
