About

White Ledge Campground is conveniently located off State Route 16, 5 miles south of Conway, New Hampshire in the southern part of White Mountain National Forest. This relatively small facility offers 28 campsites organized into two loops, tucked away in a mixed white pine and hardwood forest. The campground provides easy access to both town amenities and wilderness recreation. Two notable hiking trails originate from the campground: the White Ledge Trail, a moderate 4-mile loop, and the Carter Ledge Trail, a strenuous 4.5-mile hike to the summit of Mt. Chocorua, one of the most popular peaks in the National Forest. The campground features accessible restrooms, hand pump drinking water, picnic tables, and fire pits at each site, along with a grassy play area. The forest surrounding the campground is home to moose, white-tailed deer, black bear, and nearly 200 bird species including the rare Bicknell's Thrush. The location offers proximity to numerous recreation opportunities including the Kancamagus Scenic Byway, additional hiking trails throughout the White Mountains, rock climbing routes, and fishing in local streams. The nearby towns of Conway and North Conway provide shopping, restaurants, and other amenities. Within an hour's drive, visitors can access the Presidential Range and 6,288-foot Mount Washington.
