At 407 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 6 miles east of Willow, moving northeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Sentinel, Willow, and Retrop.

No Winter Maintenance on Battlefield Trail

The battlefield trail is open year round, but receives no winter maintenance. There may be ice or snow on the trail. Please use caution.

Parts of Fire and Dust Trail Closed

Parts of the Fire and Dust Trail remain closed due to storm damage. The rest of the park and visitor center are open for visitation.

Visitor Center Closed 12/24, 12/25, 1/1

The visitor center will be closed on 12/24/2024, 12/25/2024, and 1/1/2025 in observance of the holidays. Park grounds and trails will remain open 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset.

Road Maintnence on Highway 47A

Road maintenance is taking place on Highway 47A in front of the overlook and trailhead entrance. The road is open but vehicles may come into contact with oil.

Visitor Center Closed 12/24, 12/25, 1/1

The visitor center will be closed on 12/24/2024, 12/25/2024, and 1/1/2025 in observance of the holidays. Park grounds and trails will remain open 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset.

Visitor Center Closed 2/18 Due to Winter Weather

On February 18, 2025, the Washita Battlefield Visitor Center will Closed and reopen on February 19, 2025, at 8:00 am.

Due to a power outage the visitor center will not open until 10:00am today.

Gift Shop Closed 09/24/2025

The visitor center gift shop will be closed on 09/24/2025 to complete annual inventory.
