About
Longdale Campground is located on Canton Lake in northwest Oklahoma on the North Canadian River, approximately 6 miles from Canton and 2.5 miles from Longdale. This U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility offers 35 primitive nonelectric campsites with water hydrants scattered throughout the campground, along with one day-use group picnic shelter with electrical outlets. The campground features shade trees among open grassy areas, with shoreline vegetation including eastern cottonwood, post and blackjack oak, black willow, buttonbush and roughleaf dogwood. Canton Lake is renowned for its walleye fishing, hosting the popular Walleye Rodeo fishing derby each mid-May that draws thousands of visitors for the four-day event. The lake's broad expanse of water is ideal for personal watercraft, tubing, and water skiing, while gently sloping sandy beaches attract swimmers and sunbathers. The campground provides access to the 14,862-acre Canton Wildlife Management Area, operated by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, offering hunting opportunities for whitetail deer, wild turkey, bobwhite quail, squirrel, rabbits, dove, and various waterfowl species. Nearby attractions include restaurants within 3 miles, a casino and nine-hole golf course, a disc golf course at Big Bend Recreation Area about 8 miles away, and Roman Nose State Park and Glass Mountains State Park within a half-hour drive. The campground operates year-round with self-payment through Recreation.gov, and pets are allowed on leash.
