Longdale

Longdale Campground occupies a prime spot on Canton Lake in northwest Oklahoma, approximately 6 miles from the town of Canton and 2.5 miles from Longdale. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Tulsa District, this primitive campground provides 35 nonelectric campsites scattered among shade trees and open grassy areas along the North Canadian River. The shores are lined with eastern cottonwood, post and blackjack oak, black willow, and buttonbush. Canton Lake is one of the few places in western Oklahoma offering such diverse outdoor recreation. The lake is especially renowned for walleye fishing, hosting the annual Walleye Rodeo fishing derby in mid-May that draws thousands of visitors. The broad expanse of water parallel to the dam provides excellent conditions for personal watercraft, tubing, and water skiing, while the gently sloping sandy beaches at Sandy Cove invite swimmers and sunbathers. Nearby, the 14,862-acre Canton Wildlife Management Area offers hunting opportunities for whitetail deer, wild turkey, bobwhite quail, squirrel, rabbits, dove, and waterfowl. Roman Nose State Park and Glass Mountains State Park are within a half-hour drive, and a disc golf course is located about 8 miles away at Big Bend Recreation Area.

Directions

From Canton, OK, head east on HWY 51 for 0.2 miles to the HWY 51/HWY 58 intersection. Curve left staying on HWY 58 and continue north for 6 miles to the south city limits of Longdale. Turn left on the paved county road and continue 2 miles to the campground entrance.
