About
Spring Creek Campground is a free primitive campground located in the Black Kettle National Grassland, approximately 18.5 miles north of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Situated at an elevation of 2,300 feet along the scenic Spring Creek Lake, this small facility offers 5 camping units in a peaceful setting ideal for anglers and those seeking a quieter camping experience.
While primarily designed for tent camping, the campground can accommodate small to medium-sized RVs, though facilities are limited. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, providing basic amenities for an authentic grassland camping experience. The campground is located within the Black Kettle National Grassland, which encompasses over 30,000 acres of distinctive rolling hills and offers numerous opportunities for hunting, fishing, and other outdoor adventures.
Spring Creek Campground tends to be smaller and less maintained than other developed campgrounds in the grassland such as Skipout and Black Kettle campgrounds. The area attracts local families on weekends for picnics and fishing but remains relatively peaceful during weekdays. The grassy areas contain stickers, so visitors should be prepared. Across the lake, additional dispersed camping opportunities are available for those seeking even more solitude.
