About
Skipout Campground is a rustic 12-site facility located on Skipout Lake within the Black Kettle National Grassland, about 15 miles west of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Part of the Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands system, the campground sits at 2,100 feet elevation amid the mixed-grass prairie landscape of western Oklahoma. The campground provides basic amenities including centralized potable water and vault toilet facilities. Picnic tables are available at camping sites. A dirt hiking trail of less than 2 miles circles Skipout Lake, offering opportunities for wildlife viewing and quiet exploration. Two picnic shelters accommodate day users. Recreation opportunities include fishing, motorized boating on the lake, hiking, and wildlife viewing. The Black Kettle National Grassland encompasses over 31,000 acres of rolling grassland habitat that supports diverse wildlife populations.
