About

Fairview Campground is a secluded group camping area located at Canton Lake in northwest Oklahoma on the North Canadian River, 11 miles from Canton. This group site is designed for large gatherings like family reunions and can accommodate up to 100 people with four RV sites and numerous primitive tent sites. The campground includes a large covered picnic shelter, pit toilets, and drinking water. Note that this is a totally non-electric campground. Canton Lake is known for excellent walleye fishing, with the annual Walleye Rodeo fishing derby held in mid-May drawing thousands of visitors. The lake offers gently sloping sandy beaches for swimming, plus opportunities for personal watercraft use, tubing, and water skiing. The nearby 14,862-acre Canton Wildlife Management Area provides hunting opportunities for whitetail deer, wild turkey, dove, quail, squirrel, rabbits, and waterfowl. Access requires picking up a key from the Canadian Campground Gatehouse during booth hours (11 a.m. to 9 p.m.). The shores feature eastern cottonwood, post and blackjack oak, black willow, buttonbush, and roughleaf dogwood. Roman Nose and Glass Mountains State Parks are about 30 minutes away, and a disc golf course is available 12 miles away at Big Bend Recreation Area.

Directions

From Canton, go 0.2 miles west on Highway 51, turn north on Highway 58A. Continue 2 miles north to a 3-way stop intersection. Continue straight (west) through the intersection, curving right to a 4-way stop. Continue straight for a short distance, then take the right fork to the Canadian Campground gatehouse to pick up the key to Fairview. After getting the key, return to the second stop sign and turn left, traveling north over the dam on Highway 58A. Where the road forks, continue right on 58A until it intersects with Highway 58. Turn left on Highway 58 to Longdale. Continue through town 1 mile north (keeping left), then turn west on the secondary road. Continue west for 3 miles to the campground.
