A period of strong wind gusts are expected on Saturday as the
remnants of Hurricane Isaias move into eastern Kentucky. East-
northeast winds gusting up to 30-40 mph are expected. The
strongest winds are expected from late morning through the
afternoon and should coincide with the arrival of the leading
bands of rain. Once rainfall becomes steady, winds will lighten.
The gusty winds could blow around unsecured outdoor objects and
decor.
Firewood permits will not be available on the following dates due to end of year reporting processes - October 1, November 3, 4 and 5, 2026

Bridge #3 on Tipsaw Trail at Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area failed inspection and is closed for public safety. The trail remains open and visitors can bypass the bridge if they feel safe doing so.
The Peninsula Trail and Campsites 12 and 21 will remain closed until further notice. A severe storm in June 2024 caused significant damage.
