About

Catbrier Loop Campground sits within the Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area on the shores of 131-acre Tipsaw Lake in south-central Indiana's Hoosier National Forest. This RV-focused loop is one of three campground loops in the recreation area and caters specifically to larger RVs with ten spacious sites, each equipped with electric and water hookups. The campground provides 50-amp electrical service at sites, making it suitable for modern RVs with high power demands. The shady loop is nestled in a hardwood and pine forest at an elevation of 380 feet, offering a tranquil setting while still providing convenient amenities. The campground includes toilet facilities, a shelterhouse, and is managed by a concessionaire under a special use permit from the Forest Service. Firewood is available for purchase in one cubic foot bundles. Single sites accommodate up to 2 vehicles and 8 people, with additional vehicles charged at $5 per day. The recreation area offers extensive opportunities for outdoor activities. The seven-mile Tipsaw Trail circles the lake and is open to both hiking and mountain biking. Tipsaw Lake provides fishing opportunities for bass, crappie, and bluegill, with a boat launch available. During the operating season, the recreation area also features a swimming beach with playground equipment and a modern bathhouse. The location is within a two-hour drive of major cities including Cincinnati, Evansville, Indianapolis, and Louisville.
