About
H.R. Holland Loop is one of six campground loops within the Hardin Ridge Recreation Area, situated on the shores of Monroe Reservoir in Hoosier National Forest. This loop is part of a 197-site campground complex offering a mix of electric hookup sites in a heavily forested environment with hardwoods providing ample shade. The Holland Loop recently received upgraded facilities, including a new shower building that replaced an outdated facility. The recreation area spans 1,200 acres and offers access to Monroe Reservoir, Indiana's largest lake at 10,750 acres. Campers can enjoy a 300-foot swimming beach, a three-lane boat launch, the 2-mile Hardin Ridge Trail, and the 1.2-mile Ted T. Turtle interpretive trail. Fishing opportunities include bluegill, striped bass, largemouth bass, and crappie. The area features two picnic areas with shelter houses, some with electricity and lake views. The campground provides modern amenities including centralized water, flush toilets, and shower facilities. Generators are not permitted in the Holland Loop. The forested landscape showcases spring dogwoods and redbuds, with spectacular fall foliage. An overlook on Hardin Ridge Road provides panoramic views of the lake and surrounding forest.
