About

H.R. Eads Loop is part of the larger Hardin Ridge Recreation Area in Hoosier National Forest, located on Monroe Lake south of Bloomington, Indiana. This established campground loop offers non-electric standard campsites surrounded by full shade coverage, making it ideal for tent campers and RV users who prefer a quieter, hookup-free experience. Each site features a fire ring and gravel back-in driveway, with maximum vehicle lengths of 35 feet. The loop is unique among Hardin Ridge's six loops in that generators are permitted here, while they are prohibited in other areas. Centralized facilities serve all loops, including modern flush toilets, hot showers, and potable water. A dump station is located near the gatehouse for RV users. The recreation area also offers a 300-foot swimming beach, a three-lane boat launch on Monroe Lake, hiking and biking trails, and two rental cabins. Reservations can be made through Recreation.gov, though some sites may be available first-come, first-served. The campground operates seasonally from early April through late October under a concessionaire (BA Services) permitted by the Forest Service.
