Offices Closed April 29

Hickory Ridge Trail 16 Closed

Hickory Ridge Trail 16 is currently closed  from the junction of trail 17 on the west to junction with trail 17 on the east, south of trail 17.

Tipsaw Trail Bridge Closed Temporarily

Bridge #3 on Tipsaw Trail at Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area failed inspection and is closed for public safety. The trail remains open and visitors can bypass the bridge if they feel safe doing so.

Peninsula Trail Closed

The Peninsula Trail and Campsites 12 and 21 will remain closed until further notice.  A severe storm in June 2024 caused significant damage.

About

Dogwood Loop Campground sits within the Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area in Hoosier National Forest, offering a wooded camping experience near a 131-acre recreational lake in south-central Indiana. The loop contains 14 individual campsites, including 2 walk-in tent sites, with single sites accommodating up to 8 people and 2 vehicles, and double sites allowing up to 16 people and 4 vehicles. The campground features modern amenities including centralized potable water, flush toilets, and hot showers. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill. Only 2 sites in the loop have electric hookups; the remaining sites are non-electric. An electric boat motor recharge table is also available for those using the lake. The surrounding Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area offers a swimming beach with changing rooms (Memorial Day through Labor Day), boat ramp, fishing access, and several hiking trails. Note that some trails currently have temporary closures, including the Peninsula Trail and Tipsaw Trail Bridge.

Directions

Located 6 miles south of Interstate 64 off State Highway 37. Turn at the large Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area entrance sign. Continue down the road to the gatehouse and recreation complex. The campgrounds are to the north past the gatehouse.
