About

The Tusayan Ranger Station, also known as Moqui Ranger Station, is one of the most historically intact Forest Service administration complexes in Arizona. Located in the Kaibab National Forest near Tusayan, the complex was built by Civilian Conservation Corps enrollees from Grand Canyon camp NP2A between 1939 and 1942. The six historic buildings include a ranger residence and associated shed, office, barn and corral, garage, and seed shed. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993, this complex continues to serve as the administrative headquarters for the Tusayan Ranger District of Kaibab National Forest. The site is situated on the northern portion of the Coconino Plateau at approximately 6,900 feet elevation, within the ponderosa pine forest zone. While the ranger station itself is closed to the public, the Tusayan Ranger District offers various recreational opportunities including Hull Cabin rental, Tusayan-Montane Campground, and access to trails near the Grand Canyon's South Rim. The district encompasses about 360,000 acres bordered by Grand Canyon National Park to the north and includes portions of the newly designated Baaj Nwaavjo I'tah Kukveni – Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument.

Tusayan Ranger House is located within the Tusayan Ranger District of the Kaibab National Forest, approximately 4 miles south of the Grand Canyon National Park's South Rim entrance. From Williams, Arizona, take Highway 64 north; the campground is on the right, just before the town of Tusayan. From Cameron, take Highway 64 west to Grand Canyon National Park, continue through the park, and exit through the south entrance station; the campground is on the east side of Highway 64, 2 miles south of the town of Tusayan.
