About

The Tusayan Ranger House is a historic Forest Service administrative complex serving as the headquarters for the Tusayan Ranger District of Kaibab National Forest. Located approximately 4 miles south of Grand Canyon National Park's South Rim entrance near the town of Tusayan, Arizona, it sits within the recently designated Baaj Nwaavjo I'tah Kukveni Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument. Constructed between 1939 and 1942 by Civilian Conservation Corps enrollees from the Grand Canyon camp NP2A, the complex consists of six buildings designed in the National Park Service Rustic architectural style with red sandstone masonry veneer cut from a nearby quarry. The structures include an office, residence with associated shed, barn and corral, garage, and seed shed. The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. This is an active administrative facility and is not open to the public for camping, cabin rental, or overnight stays. Visitors seeking developed camping in the Tusayan Ranger District should consider Tusayan-Montane Campground (formerly Ten-X) located 2 miles south of Tusayan, or Hull Cabin, a historic rental cabin available through recreation.gov.
