About

Tusayan-Montane Campground, originally built in the 1970s as Ten-X Campground, has been expanded and modernized to accommodate today's larger camping vehicles. Located in Kaibab National Forest at an elevation of approximately 6,600 feet, the campground provides a quieter alternative to staying inside Grand Canyon National Park while remaining just 10 miles from the South Rim entrance. The campground features five loops named Elk, Raven, Squirrel, Black Bear, and Pronghorn, with 142 single sites (up to 8 people) and 18 double sites (up to 14 people). Thirty sites remain first-come, first-served while the remainder are reservable through Recreation.gov during the peak season. Two group sites accommodate 50 and 75 people respectively. Each site includes a picnic table and fire pit with grill. No utility hookups, showers, or dump stations are available on-site, though these services can be found in Grand Canyon National Park. A 3-mile nature trail loops through the campground, and resident elk are commonly spotted. Summer thunderstorms are frequent in July and August, while snow is common from December through March.

Located 2 miles south of Tusayan and 47 miles north of Williams on U.S. Highway 180/AZ Highway 64. Approximately 10 miles from the south entrance to Grand Canyon National Park.
