THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 484 IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM MST THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN ARIZONA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 5 COUNTIES IN SOUTH CENTRAL ARIZONA PIMA IN SOUTHEAST ARIZONA COCHISE GRAHAM GREENLEE SANTA CRUZ THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF CLIFTON, DOUGLAS, DUNCAN, MORENCI, NOGALES, SAFFORD, SIERRA VISTA, THATCHER, AND TUCSON.

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with afternoon temperatures as high as 100 to 106 expected. * WHERE...Canyonlands/Natural Bridges and Southeast Utah. * WHEN...Until midnight MDT Sunday Night. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Near record temperatures are possible especially on Sunday at the peak of this heat event.

This campground was surrounded by the Rodeo-Chediski fire in the summer of 2002. The area around the campground was severely burned and presents safety hazards, including stump holes and falling limbs and trees. The campground is still forested and trees within the facility have been sprayed with pesticide to help protect against bark beetles.
