This campground was surrounded by the Rodeo-Chediski fire in the summer of 2002. The area around the campground was severely burned and presents safety hazards, including stump holes and falling limbs and trees. The campground is still forested and trees within the facility have been sprayed with pesticide to help protect against bark beetles.
