About
Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area opened in 1994 through a partnership between the U.S. Forest Service, Arizona State Parks, Arizona Game and Fish, and the City of Show Low. The campground sits at 6,300 feet elevation among ponderosa pine, juniper, and pinyon pine, offering cool mountain camping with lakeside views. The 150-acre lake features wildlife islands and provides fishing opportunities, though boat motors are limited to 10 HP. The campground offers 62 electric RV sites with 30/50 amp service and water hookups, accommodating rigs up to 40 feet. The Mallard and Redhead loops include sewer connections. Twenty tent-only sites feature concrete pads. All campsites include fire rings and picnic tables. Hot showers are available at all camping loops, and modern flush restrooms are conveniently located throughout. A dump station operates May through mid-October. The park store sells souvenirs, and JT Wildlife Outdoors offers seasonal equipment rentals and supplies including firewood, ice, and fishing gear. Day use facilities include five large group picnic ramadas, two playgrounds, an amphitheater with interpretive programs, and hiking trails. The park operates year-round with reservations available through Arizona State Parks. Pets are welcome on leash.
