Fool Hollow Lake Campground

Open — Open year-round for camping. Park gates open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (November through March) and 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (April through October). Dump station and fish cleaning stations are closed for the season and reopen in April. Weekend minimum stay requirements apply April through October.

Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area sits at a cool 6,300 feet elevation in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest near Show Low, Arizona. The park opened in 1994 through cooperation between the U.S. Forest Service, Arizona State Parks, Arizona Game and Fish, and the city of Show Low. The campground offers 111 total sites spread among multiple loops winding through tall ponderosa pine trees, with many sites offering views of the 150-acre lake and wildlife islands. The campground includes 29 basic tent sites with concrete pads, fire rings, and picnic tables, plus 82 RV sites with 30-amp service (some 50-amp available) that can accommodate rigs up to 40 feet. Water is available at all RV sites, while Mallard and Redhead Loops offer full hookups with sewer. Some sites are located near steep cliffs and rocky ledges, with specific site information available during reservation. Year-round camping makes this a popular destination, with cool mountain weather providing relief from Arizona's desert heat. The park offers fishing, boating, paddling, and wildlife viewing opportunities on the peaceful lake waters. A camp store with boat rentals, restrooms with showers, and a dump station (seasonal, April through October) serve campers. The park entrance gate opens at 5 a.m. (7 a.m. November through March) and closes at 8 p.m., with after-hours access codes provided to campers with reservations.

From Show Low, Arizona, take Highway 260 north for approximately 2 miles. Turn right onto Old Linden Road, then left onto Fool Hollow Lake Road. Follow signs to the campground entrance.
