About
Lakeside Campground holds the distinction of being one of the oldest National Forest campgrounds in the state of Arizona. Located near Rainbow Lake in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, the campground was situated in the midst of beautiful ponderosa pine forests that characterize the White Mountains region. For many years, Lakeside Campground was one of the most popular campsites in the Pinetop-Lakeside area, providing visitors with convenient access to the town's amenities while still offering a forested camping experience. The campground served generations of campers seeking to enjoy the cool mountain climate and recreational opportunities of the area. The campground is now permanently closed. Visitors to the Pinetop-Lakeside area can explore other nearby campgrounds within the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, including those managed by the Lakeside Ranger District.
