Open for the season through October. Nine sites are reservable via Recreation.gov; remaining sites are first-come, first-served with Scan and Pay or cash/check. Fire bans are common during summer months. Check-in 2:00 PM, check-out 12:00 PM. 14-day stay limit.
Alcohol Prohibitions
This Order describes acts that are prohibited upon lands, roads and trails within the National Forest System administered by the Forest Service Pacific Northwest Region in regards to alcoholic beverages.
Aquatic Invasive Species
This Order prohibits 1) possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic invasive animal species AND 2) prohibits possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic or riparian invasive plant species - on National Forest System lands in the Pacific Northwest Region as specified in the Order.
Restrictions on Use of Forage and Mulch Products

Whispering Falls Campground is a scenic retreat along the North Santiam River in the Willamette National Forest, 8.3 miles southeast of Detroit, Oregon. At 2,000 feet elevation, the campground features 15 sites shaded by grand old-growth cedars and Douglas firs, with hemlock, rhododendrons, and ferns creating a lush understory. Most sites offer views of the river, making it popular with anglers targeting rainbow trout. The campground has vault toilets throughout, potable drinking water from hand pumps, and each site includes a picnic table and grill. Nine sites are reservable through Recreation.gov while the remainder are first-come, first-served. Scan and Pay via the Recreation.gov app is available for FCFS sites, along with cash or check payment. Be aware that cellular service is limited or nonexistent. Nearby recreation includes the Mt. Jefferson-Pamelia Lake Trail Area, the challenging Minto Mountain Trail, and the Coffin Mountain Trail Area with Coffin Lookout and Bugaboo Ridge Trails. Detroit Lake offers boating and water sports, and the Marion Forks Fish Hatchery provides an interesting side trip to see rainbow trout, steelhead, and chinook salmon.
